The self-portrait on the left is unashamedly in the style of Frida Kahlo. It was runner up in the 'Fakes 95' competition and exhibited at the Raw Gallery, London Bridge, London, in 1995. The pussycat on my shoulder is my dearly departed companion Vasey. Tickle him under the chin... he always liked that!

From a young age I always imagined I would study fine art. I did an art foundation course in Lancashire in ’84 to discover which discipline was for me. Strangely, this turned out to be Theatre Design. So I abandoned art to study Theatre Design at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff for 3 years. After graduating, I did TV prop-making and scenic art for 10 years, then came back to art after becoming fed up of getting back home late each night covered in paint or polystyrene, smelling of latex and acetone and nursing endless broken nails!

In the 90’s, I was briefly into game development in ‘Hounds by the Basketful’ (we finally decided on the name after one or two pints of Guinness!) and created the video board game ‘G.O.O.T’ (Get Out Of That!)
