Sam’s personalised Vintage Home Magazine

This lady is Sam Miller. She’s an amazingly talented artist. She creates quirky art dolls, jewelry, embroidery, and assemblage pieces combining vintage items. I am in awe of her tireless imagination.

When she suggested we do a “swapple” (her word for an art swap), one of her art dolls for one of my Vanity Fair caricatures,  I immediately thought of the perfect alternative for her.

Sam’s personalised Vintage Home Magazine

Sam is vintage personified! She has the most extensive collection of vintage clothes, shoes and hats, and frequently shows off her Sunday best (whatever day it is) on her domestic Instagram page Resting and Nesting . So what would be more apt than making her the cover girl of her own personalised Vintage Home magazine, replete with personalised imagery of her life, vintage fashion and art.

Reminiscent of post war women’s home magazines, such as Woman and home, Good housekeeping, Homes and Gardens, and Ideal home, I wanted the piece to fully represent her vintageiness, her artwork, her veganism, and her love for whippets. I think I got it all in.
